President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has extended his gratitude to Prophet David Isanga, the spiritual leader of the Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness, for his advocacy of wealth creation and job generation in the church’s teachings.
The President made these remarks on December 31, 2025, during the church’s End of Year Glorification and Thanksgiving Convention in Kilama, Kaliro District, delivered by Haji Faruk Kirunda, his Special Assistant for Press and Mobilization.
Museveni emphasized the importance of addressing both spiritual and physical needs for a fulfilling life. While spiritual nourishment is found through prayer, worship, and moral instruction, he highlighted that physical needs—such as food, shelter, and employment—are essential for a productive and happy life. In a modern economy, he explained, the ability to meet these needs is tied to financial resources, which can only be obtained through active participation in sectors like agriculture, industry, services, and ICT.
The President encouraged religious leaders to remind their followers that pursuing economic success is not a contradiction to spiritual goals. He warned against the trap of neglecting one’s earthly responsibilities in the name of spirituality, which he believes can lead to poverty and stagnation. Citing Jesus Christ as a role model who balanced his spiritual mission with the responsibility of working to support his family, Museveni urged Ugandans to adopt a similar approach—pursuing both spiritual growth and economic prosperity.
Uganda’s progress, Museveni added, is evident in the nation’s peace, unity, and expanding economic sectors. While acknowledging that 30% of Ugandan households remain outside the formal money economy, he reassured citizens that government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga were designed to uplift the marginalized and integrate them into the broader economic system.
Prophet David, in his address, thanked President Museveni for his unwavering commitment to Uganda’s socio-economic growth. He praised the President’s policies that have created opportunities for many Ugandans, including those through the Parish Development Model and other government initiatives. The Prophet also encouraged his congregation to continue supporting President Museveni and other NRM candidates in the upcoming 2026 general elections to ensure continued national progress.
The event in Kaliro also attracted several key political leaders, including the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Jenipher Namuyangu, and Members of Parliament from the region. Their presence highlighted the growing alignment between religious institutions and the government in shaping Uganda’s future.
As the year came to a close, the convention underscored the importance of collaboration between faith-based leaders and government in fostering a prosperous Uganda. By focusing on both spiritual and material well-being, the country seems poised to continue its journey towards greater economic success, with a strong foundation in both faith and work.
