Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director Nyombi Thembo has praised residents of Kasanda and Ugandans across the country for what he described as a firm stand against opposition misinformation during the recently concluded general elections, resulting in a strong victory for the National Resistance Movement.
Nyombi made the remarks while addressing supporters at a celebratory gathering held in Kasanda to mark President Yoweri Museveni’s re-election. The event attracted local leaders, party loyalists, and community members who turned up in large numbers to celebrate the ruling party’s success.
He applauded voters for remaining resolute throughout the campaign period, noting that despite pressure, threats, and misleading messages, the electorate stayed focused on what they believed was best for the country’s future.
Nyombi singled out Kasanda for maintaining peace and order before, during, and after the elections, describing the district as a model of responsible political participation. He contrasted this calm atmosphere with reports of unrest in other parts of the country.
According to Nyombi, the overwhelming support for President Museveni was a clear demonstration of public confidence in his leadership and development agenda. He said the results reflected trust built over time through stability and consistent governance.
Looking ahead, Nyombi assured residents that the new presidential term would concentrate on improving household incomes and strengthening economic opportunities at the grassroots. He emphasized continued investment in agriculture, trade, and skills training as key pillars of wealth creation.
He explained that government programs are designed to help ordinary citizens fully participate in the money economy, stressing that development must be felt directly in homes and communities rather than remaining on paper.
Nyombi concluded by urging citizens to support NRM leaders at all levels of governance, arguing that coordinated leadership from the village to the national level is essential for effective service delivery. The celebrations ended with messages of unity and hope for sustained progress in Kasanda and the country at large.
