Police in Mukono have intensified investigations into the violent death of Pamela Tumwebaze, the Director of Students’ Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), whose killing has stunned colleagues, students, and the wider public.
The case, recorded under Mukono CRB 195/2026, emerged in the early hours of Tuesday, February 11, 2026, after police received a report at about 5:00am indicating that the senior university official had been attacked during the night at her residence in Seeta.
Early police findings suggest that the fatal incident occurred at around 2:00am when an unidentified individual unlawfully entered her home in Ganvu West Cell, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, and strangled her inside the house.
Following the attack, Tumwebaze was rushed to Mukono Namirembe Hospital while still alive but in critical condition, where medical staff later confirmed her death despite efforts to save her.
Officers led by ASP Alituha, the Officer in Charge of Mukono Police Station, alongside Scene of Crime Officers, promptly visited the scene, thoroughly examined the premises, and documented crucial evidence to guide the investigation.
Police established that the deceased lived with her two children, Elijah and Noah, aged between 10 and 13 years, and a 20-year-old housemaid identified as Lwantale Sharif, and that the family had returned home at about 10:00pm on the night of the attack.
Investigators believe the suspect may have taken advantage of the moment the gate and main door were opened to slip into the house unnoticed, later intimidating the housemaid into surrendering the keys before escaping.
Authorities further noted that the attacker fled with a laptop bag containing items yet to be identified, while Tumwebaze’s mobile phone was missing, raising the possibility of robbery linked to the killing, as her body remains at Mukono Namirembe Hospital pending transfer to Mulago Mortuary for a postmortem examination and police continue the manhunt.
