Kasambya County MP Daudi Kabanda has announced that individuals appearing on political talk shows to represent the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) must first obtain clearance from the PLU Chairman’s Office before making public appearances.
Kabanda, who recently received an appointment as Executive Secretary of PLU, said the move is aimed at ensuring proper coordination, discipline and consistency in the communication of the organisation’s positions.
The legislator said PLU members and supporters who participate in political discussions on television, radio and other media platforms must be officially authorised before presenting themselves as representatives of the organisation.
According to Kabanda, the new arrangement will help prevent confusion caused by individuals making statements that may not reflect the official position of PLU leadership.
He said political communication requires proper coordination, especially as the organisation continues to expand its activities and engage with Ugandans across the country.
“Anyone appearing on political talk shows on behalf of PLU must first secure clearance from the PLU Chairman’s Office,” Kabanda stated.

The directive follows Kabanda’s recent appointment as Executive Secretary, a position that places him among the key officials responsible for coordinating the activities and communication structures of PLU.
Kabanda said the office will work to strengthen organisation, accountability and discipline among members representing PLU in public spaces.
He explained that political organisations need clear communication channels to avoid situations where different individuals issue conflicting messages on important national matters.
The MP said the decision does not prevent members from expressing their personal views but ensures that anyone speaking officially on behalf of PLU does so with proper authorization.
He emphasized that political parties and movements require strong structures to maintain unity and effectively communicate their agenda to the public.
Kabanda’s announcement comes at a time when PLU has increased its public engagements and political activities ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The organisation, associated with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has continued building its presence through meetings, public discussions and interactions with different groups across Uganda.
Observers say the new communication guidelines could be part of efforts by PLU leadership to create a more organized media strategy and ensure consistency in messaging.
Kabanda has previously been vocal on political issues and has frequently defended PLU positions while criticizing individuals and groups he believes oppose the organisation’s objectives.
His appointment as Executive Secretary has placed him in a position where he is expected to oversee coordination and implementation of PLU activities.

The new directive is expected to affect how PLU representatives engage with media platforms, particularly political talk shows that attract large audiences.
Media discussions have become an important tool for political organisations to reach voters, explain policies and respond to criticism.
Kabanda said proper authorization will allow PLU to identify official spokespersons and ensure that its message is delivered clearly and responsibly.
He urged PLU supporters and members to respect the new guidelines and work together to strengthen the organisation’s public image.
The directive marks another step in PLU’s efforts to establish internal structures as it continues to position itself within Uganda’s political landscape.
As political activity increases ahead of the 2026 elections, communication strategy is expected to remain a key focus for political groups seeking influence and public support.
