My name is Rose, and I am from Kampala, Uganda. For several years, I lived a life I longed to escape. I made countless attempts to walk away from prostitution, but each time I ended up going back.
Today, I have chosen to share my journey in the hope of encouraging others who are battling harmful lifestyles not to give up.
I got involved in prostitution while I was still young because of the harsh realities of life and financial struggles. In the beginning, I convinced myself it would only be for a short time, but the years went by, and I became stuck in a lifestyle that was much harder to leave than I had imagined.
Whenever I decided to stop, I would eventually return because I believed I had no better alternative.The lifestyle took a heavy toll on every area of my life.
I lost my self-esteem, my relationship with my family suffered, and I constantly lived with feelings of shame and hopelessness.
