The business community in Western Uganda is mourning the death of prominent businessman and investor Pastori Muhwezi, who reportedly lost his life following a tragic road accident along the Ibanda–Mbarara Highway.
Muhwezi, who was widely known as the proprietor of Bamuhwezi Investments, was involved in the crash at Kagongi Trading Centre while travelling with his wife and son. The accident left the family devastated, with the businessman sustaining serious injuries.
According to reports, the businessman, his wife and their son were rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital after the accident for emergency medical attention.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Muhwezi later passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash, leaving family members, friends and the business community in deep sorrow.
His wife and son survived the accident and remained admitted at the hospital where they were receiving treatment and monitoring from medical workers.
The death of Muhwezi has caused shock among residents and business partners who described him as a hardworking entrepreneur who dedicated years to building businesses that contributed to the growth of the region.
Muhwezi was the owner of Bamuhwezi Hotel and Bamuhwezi Coffee Factories, businesses that became well known in Western Uganda and created employment opportunities for many people.
Friends and colleagues have remembered him as a visionary businessman who believed in investing in his community and supporting economic development through his enterprises.
Many residents expressed sadness over the sudden death, saying Uganda had lost an investor whose efforts helped promote hospitality and coffee processing industries in the region.
The accident occurred at a time when road safety concerns remain a major issue across Uganda, with several fatal crashes reported on different highways involving private vehicles and public transport.
Authorities had not yet released the official cause of the crash at the time of reporting, as investigations continued to establish what exactly led to the collision.
Road users have continued to call for increased caution, proper vehicle maintenance and responsible driving to reduce the number of accidents happening across the country.
The wreckage of the vehicle involved in the accident showed the seriousness of the crash, with emergency responders working to rescue those inside and rush them for medical care.
Muhwezi’s family, friends and employees are now facing the painful loss of a man who played an important role in their lives and businesses.
Messages of condolence have continued to come from different people who knew him, with many describing him as a generous and determined entrepreneur.
His businesses had become part of the economic activities in the area, providing services and opportunities to many residents who depended on them.
The loss has also affected workers connected to his companies, many of whom regarded him as a leader who valued his employees.
