Former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among reportedly held a private meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on June 7 as investigations into her wealth, assets, and conduct in public office continue to attract national attention.
The meeting, which took place at State House, has since become a major topic of discussion within political circles due to the sensitive issues currently surrounding the former Speaker.
According to sources familiar with the discussions, Among had spent considerable time seeking an opportunity to meet the President before eventually securing the audience.
The meeting is said to have been relatively brief but highly significant given the ongoing investigations involving several government agencies.
Sources indicate that during the discussion, Among reportedly sought forgiveness from the President for any mistakes she may have made during her tenure as Speaker of Parliament.
The request is understood to have come amid growing pressure resulting from investigations into allegations relating to asset declaration, corruption, and illicit enrichment.

However, according to individuals familiar with the meeting, President Museveni did not provide the assurances that Among may have been hoping for.
Instead, the President reportedly emphasized that the Inspectorate of Government and other investigative agencies had not yet completed their inquiries into the allegations.
“The IGG haven’t finished their report. Let us wait for them to complete it,” Museveni is reported to have told the former Speaker during the meeting.
The response has been interpreted by observers as a sign that the President is allowing the investigative process to continue without direct interference.
Sources further claim that Among attempted to explain the origins of some of the properties and vehicles that have recently been seized by security agencies.
She reportedly argued that several of the assets under scrutiny had been acquired through proceeds from her private business ventures rather than from public funds.
Among is also said to have requested the return of some of the vehicles that were impounded during recent operations conducted by investigators.
Among the vehicles reportedly seized are luxury automobiles that have attracted significant public attention due to their high value.
However, sources indicate that Museveni remained cautious and advised her to wait until all investigations had been completed before any decisions regarding the assets could be considered.
The President is said to have maintained that investigators should be allowed to finish their work and submit their findings without external influence.

The meeting reportedly ended without any firm commitments regarding the return of property or the outcome of the investigations.
After the discussion concluded, Among was escorted from the venue and driven away, leaving many unanswered questions about her political future.
The developments come at a time when security agencies have intensified investigations into properties associated with the former Speaker in areas including Nakasero, Kigo, and Bukedea.
Investigators have reportedly seized documents, electronic devices, and several luxury assets that are now undergoing forensic examination as part of the broader inquiry.
Political analysts believe the outcome of the Inspectorate of Government’s report could play a decisive role in determining both Anita Among’s legal position and her prospects for a future political comeback.
Until then, the investigations remain active, and according to sources close to the matter, President Museveni’s position is that all institutions involved should be allowed to complete their work before any conclusions are reached.
