Ugandan media personality and businessman Frank Gashumba has sparked a wide public conversation after expressing his frustration over the alleged misuse of taxpayers’ money in Uganda. Gashumba, who is known for openly speaking about social and national issues, said it hurts him whenever he sees public resources being lost through corruption and poor accountability.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station, Gashumba claimed that he personally contributes billions of shillings in taxes every year and questioned why taxpayers continue to suffer when some individuals are accused of mismanaging public funds. He said that people who work hard to pay taxes deserve to see their contributions transformed into better services and national development.
“I feel so much pain whenever I see people stealing taxpayers’ money. I personally pay over UGX 3.6 billion in taxes every year, but all that money is stolen,” Gashumba said while expressing his disappointment about the situation.
The businessman explained that paying taxes is a responsibility that many Ugandans take seriously because they believe the money collected by the government should help improve the lives of citizens. According to him, taxpayers expect their contributions to support hospitals, schools, roads, security, and other important sectors.
Gashumba said corruption remains one of the biggest challenges affecting Uganda’s progress because resources meant for public projects can end up being misused. He argued that when government funds are lost, it is ordinary citizens who eventually feel the impact through poor services and delayed development.
The outspoken personality called upon government leaders to become more serious in fighting corruption and ensuring that public officials who misuse funds are held accountable. He emphasized that protecting taxpayers’ money should be a priority for every leader entrusted with public responsibility.

He also urged leaders involved in monitoring local governments to take stronger action against officials accused of abusing public resources. Gashumba said there should be no protection for individuals involved in corruption regardless of their positions or influence.
“Balaam, don’t show mercy to anyone involved in corruption in the different districts. Go after them and clean up the mess because it is too much for us taxpayers,” he added.
His remarks came at a time when discussions about corruption and accountability continue to attract attention from Ugandans across the country. Many citizens have repeatedly called for greater transparency in the management of national resources.
Gashumba has over the years built a reputation as a person who openly comments on matters affecting society. Through interviews and public discussions, he has often challenged leaders to focus on improving the lives of ordinary Ugandans.
The media personality believes that taxpayers should have confidence that their money is being used properly. He said that people who contribute financially to the country’s economy deserve accountability from those responsible for managing public funds.
According to Gashumba, corruption does not only affect government institutions but also slows down economic growth and creates difficulties for citizens who depend on public services. He believes that fighting corruption requires commitment from leaders, institutions, and the public.
His comments have sparked reactions from different sections of society, with some Ugandans agreeing that stronger measures are needed to protect public funds. Others have continued discussing the importance of accountability among government officials.
The businessman further explained that taxpayers sacrifice a lot to contribute to national development, and losing such resources through corruption can be painful for those who work hard to earn their income.

Gashumba’s message focused on the need for responsible leadership and proper management of government finances. He insisted that public offices should be used to serve citizens rather than individuals benefiting at the expense of the country.
He encouraged Ugandans to continue demanding transparency and asking questions about how public money is spent. According to him, citizens have a right to know whether their taxes are being used for the intended purposes.
The remarks by Gashumba have added to the ongoing national conversation about corruption, governance, and the responsibility of leaders. His statement has attracted attention because of his claim about the amount of taxes he personally contributes.
As Uganda continues working toward improving accountability systems, many citizens hope that stronger actions will be taken to prevent the loss of public resources. They believe that fighting corruption is important for achieving meaningful development.
Gashumba maintained that taxpayers deserve respect because their contributions help run the country. He said that every shilling collected through taxes should be protected and directed toward projects that improve people’s lives.
The businessman concluded by emphasizing that corruption affects everyone and that protecting public resources should be a shared responsibility. He called for unity in demanding honesty, transparency, and better management of Uganda’s resources.
