Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned that government ministers who fail to serve the interests of Ugandans could be dropped or reshuffled during the current term.
Muhoozi made the remarks in response to concerns raised by State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Justine Nameere.
The Chief of Defence Forces said holding a government position should come with a clear responsibility to deliver for the public.
“Changing or dropping a Minister who is not serving our people’s interests is the easiest thing. In this Kisanja we shall drop and reshuffle many,” Muhoozi said.
His comments have drawn attention to the issue of ministerial performance and accountability within government.
Muhoozi said leaders should focus on improving the lives of ordinary Ugandans and should not assume that their positions are permanent.
The remarks come as government continues to emphasise performance and service delivery across ministries and departments.
His warning suggests that more ministers and officials could face changes if they fail to meet the expectations of the government and the public.
