After days of intense public speculation and growing questions about her political future, former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has finally spoken out, reaffirming her unwavering loyalty to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni despite the challenges currently surrounding her.
Among made the remarks on Sunday while hosting a delegation of Teso cultural leaders led by the Emorimor, Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, at her residence in Nakasero, where discussions centered on her wellbeing, political future, and the investigations that have recently dominated national headlines.
The former Speaker used the occasion to directly address reports that have circulated in recent weeks, making it clear that her respect, admiration, and loyalty to President Museveni remain unchanged.
According to Among, the President played a crucial role in her political journey and entrusted her with one of the most important responsibilities of her career when she was elevated to the position of Speaker of Parliament.
She described Museveni as a mentor and leader who gave her an opportunity to serve the country at the highest levels of government, an opportunity she says she will always appreciate.
“The President gave me an opportunity to serve in one of the most important positions of my political career. I became a Speaker because of him. I will always remain loyal to him,” Among reportedly told the delegation.

Her comments immediately attracted attention, particularly because they came at a time when political observers have been closely monitoring her silence amid ongoing investigations involving her assets and wealth declarations.
The former Speaker also sought to address reports suggesting that she had been subjected to harsh treatment during recent investigations and searches conducted by security agencies.
According to Among, claims that she was mistreated have been exaggerated and do not accurately reflect her experience throughout the ongoing process.
She insisted that despite widespread reports and speculation, she had not suffered the treatment that some media reports had suggested.
Instead, Among explained that the most difficult aspect of the entire ordeal has been the intense public scrutiny and embarrassment that accompanied the investigations.
She noted that the constant media attention and public discussion surrounding the allegations had created significant emotional and personal challenges.
The former Speaker also took the opportunity to reject several claims that have circulated regarding what investigators allegedly discovered during searches at her properties.
Among specifically dismissed reports that large quantities of cash were recovered from her homes, maintaining that the allegations had been grossly exaggerated.
She further denied claims that investigators had discovered a money-printing machine at one of her residences, describing such reports as completely false.

Her remarks reportedly drew laughter from some members of the visiting delegation, highlighting what appeared to be an effort to ease tensions surrounding the controversy.
Despite the political storm surrounding her, Among emphasized that she remains a committed member of the ruling National Resistance Movement and has no intention of abandoning the party.
She stated that she remains a loyal cadre who is prepared to serve wherever the party leadership and President Museveni decide to deploy her in the future.
The visiting Teso cultural leaders also expressed solidarity with the former Speaker, assuring her that she continues to enjoy strong support from many people within her home region.
The delegation reportedly pledged to engage President Museveni in an effort to seek understanding and promote reconciliation where necessary, while encouraging Among to remain strong throughout the ongoing investigations.
Although uncertainty continues to surround her political future, Among’s latest remarks have sent a clear message that regardless of the investigations, public criticism, and political turbulence she currently faces, her loyalty to President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement remains firmly intact.
