PLU Secretary General and Kasambya County MP David Kabanda has intensified his public criticism of former Speaker , accusing his former political ally of abandoning and turning against influential figures who once played major roles in her political journey.
Speaking during a lengthy interview, Kabanda painted a picture of a relationship that evolved from close friendship to bitter rivalry, claiming recent political developments had exposed deep divisions between him and the former Speaker.
The outspoken legislator argued that his fallout with Among stemmed from differences over loyalty, political strategy and support for , whom Kabanda described as a longtime friend and political associate.
Kabanda maintained that his allegiance to Gen Muhoozi was never negotiable, insisting that their relationship stretches back more than a decade and predates his entry into Parliament.
According to Kabanda, one of the biggest mistakes made by some political actors was underestimating Gen Muhoozi’s influence and future political significance within Uganda’s power structures.
He claimed that several politicians allegedly distanced themselves from Gen Muhoozi during periods of uncertainty, believing that doing so would better serve their political interests.

Kabanda alleged that Among was among those who doubted Gen Muhoozi’s political trajectory and became reluctant to be publicly associated with him at certain moments.
The Kasambya MP said he remained steadfast in his support for the PLU chairman despite receiving warnings from various individuals who allegedly advised him to keep his distance.
He further accused Among of attempting to create friction between Gen Muhoozi and President through what he described as misleading claims and misinformation.
Kabanda also revisited previous allegations surrounding a purported Shs3 billion solicitation controversy, insisting that he neither requested nor received any such funds and that the claims were entirely fabricated.
He claimed that subsequent exchanges between himself and Among eventually led to attempts at reconciliation, but said the trust that once existed between them had already been irreparably damaged.
The PLU official alleged that political disagreements escalated further during the contest over parliamentary leadership, particularly regarding support for Speaker .
According to Kabanda, efforts to oppose Oboth-Oboth’s rise were viewed by his camp as direct opposition to Gen Muhoozi’s preferred political direction within the ruling establishment.
Beyond current political battles, Kabanda accused Among of abandoning individuals who had previously stood by her during difficult periods of her life and career.
Among the examples he cited was opposition veteran , whom Kabanda claimed had once provided significant support to Among and her family.

Kabanda alleged that despite receiving assistance from Besigye over the years, Among later shifted political allegiance and joined the camp of President Museveni, a move he characterized as betrayal.
He also referenced former Speaker , describing a close relationship that he claimed existed between Kadaga and Among for many years.
According to Kabanda, Kadaga placed enormous trust in Among, relying on her during personal and professional moments, including periods of illness when the two were reportedly exceptionally close.
Despite that relationship, Kabanda argued that political competition eventually drove a wedge between the two leaders, leading to one of the most significant political breakups in recent parliamentary history.
Concluding his remarks, Kabanda said his actions were motivated by loyalty to Gen Muhoozi and what he described as a commitment to long-standing political relationships.
He insisted that regardless of shifting alliances and political turbulence, he would continue standing with allies he has known and worked with for many years rather than abandon them for short-term political advantage.
